BDA Marks 11th Year of Fundraising for Marsha Rivkin Center with $50,000 Donation
SEATTLE – September 23, 2010 — Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Inc. (BDA), the nation's premier Merchandise Agency™ and recognized leader in sports and entertainment merchandise activation, today announced that it has matched last year's contribution and raised an additional $50,000 for the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research. Founded in 1996, the Center's mission is to save lives and reduce suffering through improved trea™ent, early detection, and prevention of ovarian cancer. BDA co-founders, Eric Bensussen and Jay Deutsch, presented a check to Marsha Rivkin's founder and executive director, Dr. Saul Rivkin, on field prior to the July 18 Sounders FC match versus Celtic FC at Qwest Field.
"The Marsha Rivkin Center has always been close to our hearts here at BDA and we are so very proud of all of our associates who have dedicated themselves to raising money to support their mission," said Eric Bensussen, president of BDA. "At BDA, we believe strongly in the credo of civic responsibility and giving back to our community. So many individuals at BDA have been personally affected by cancer so we feel especially grateful that we have this opportunity to participate in making a real difference in the lives of people in our own community and beyond."
Bensussen's and Deutsch's passion for the Center stems from personal family experiences with the disease. Their generosity is reflected throughout the entire company, which has raised close to $500,000 since 2000 to support the Center's fight against ovarian cancer. The funds that BDA has raised have directly supported critical cancer research including the development of a symptom-screening questionnaire designed to boost early detection of ovarian cancer. BDA has hosted a variety of company-sponsored events and auctions to raise funds for the foundation, including a carwash, a bake sale, BINGO, trivia night, a prize pyramid, Sounders Night, and the annual SummeRun, which in 2010 included 65 runners and walkers from BDA.
"For 10 years now BDA has worked tirelessly to support our organization and we are deeply grateful for all of its efforts," said Dr. Saul Rivkin, Executive Director of the Marsha Rivkin Center. "Many companies make contributions to organizations like ours, but BDA is different because the spirit of giving back to the community is deeply reflected in its own corporate culture. We applaud the efforts of BDA and all of its employees in helping us find a cure and improve the lives of cancer patients everywhere."
