BD&A Sponsors 2006 Swedish Hospital SummeRun for Seventh Consecutive Year
Woodinville, Wash., – July 14, 2006 – BD&A, the nation's first and only Merchandise AgencySM , will be the Presenting Sponsor for the 12th Annual Swedish Hospital SummeRun benefiting the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research. The event – a 5K walk/run and 10K race - will be on Sunday, July 23 at 8:00 a.m. on Seattle’s First and Capitol Hills.
BD&A marked their seventh year of participation in this event with record company-wide fundraising efforts this past April. These efforts culminated with a $65,000 check presentation to the Rivkin Center, every dollar of which goes toward the fight against ovarian cancer.
“Each year, BD&A employees devote countless hours to raising money for the Marsha Rivkin Center, an organization whose cause is very close to my heart”, said Eric Bensussen, BD&A President. . “The generosity and dedication of all BD&A employees nationwide is a source of constant pride. Each year they top the efforts of the previous year.”
Marsha Rivkin’s five daughters organized the first Swedish SummeRun event in 1993 in memory of their mother and with the help and support of Swedish Medical Center. Dr. Saul Rivkin, an oncologist at Swedish Medical Center, laid the groundwork for the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research that same year. The Center's mission is to save lives and reduce suffering through improved treatment, early detection, and prevention of ovarian cancer.
Last year’s event drew over 2,500 participants and raised a total of $317,000 for the Marsha Rivkin Center.
Sunday’s race starts at the corner of Madison and Minor and heads north through Seattle’s scenic Capitol Hill neighborhood before finishing at Boylston and Minor. Registration fees, which include a T-shirt, are $25 per person through Saturday, July 22nd or $30 per person on race-day. Race-day registration at the corner of Marion and Minor will begin at 6:30 a.m.
