BDA Sustainability Principles

BDA is fully committed to the preservation and protection of our communities and planet.
As such:

  • BDA will strive to reduce pollution and waste through more environmentally responsible sourcing, material recycling and conservative operation of facilities.
  • BDA will foster partnerships with suppliers and factories that utilize environmentally responsible business practices.
  • BDA will strive to reduce and eliminate environmentally related health risks to our valued employees by way of safe operation, employee education and documented safe practices.
  • BDA will strive to conserve energy wherever possible by continually looking for ways to make our operations more efficient.
  • BDA will regularly audit our policies and practices in an effort to become better stewards of the environment and planet.

Suppliers, Packing & Materials

BDA uses environmentally responsible suppliers whenever and wherever possible. Although we are not a manufacturer, our procedures are based upon ISO standards and are strictly enforced. Many of our major product suppliers are either ISO 14000 compliant or certified.

We must explore alternative packaging solutions that add value to products and protect the environment.

We use bubble wrap for void fill packaging; a recyclable resource. In addition, this is a light packing material that saves on transportation costs.

We do not use white boxes for packing due to the adverse effects the bleaching process has on the environment. Our boxes are 100% recyclable.

On-Site Practices

BDA has an ongoing practice of implementing energy-efficient policies whenever possible. Some of the steps we have taken on-site include:

  • Retrofitting our lighting with energy-efficient bulbs, creating a 55% cost reduction in electricity.
  • Adding motion-sensor light switches to reduce energy consumption.
  • Installing water-conserving drinking fountains, sinks and toilets.
  • Establishing a company carpool program with employee incentives.
  • Recycling paper products, cardboard, aluminum and glass throughout the company.
