TiffanyClient Services
You've certainly worked your way up through the BDA ranks. Give us a quick recap.
I began my career at BDA as an executive assistant, following eight years in the legal field. A completely different line of work, but my skill sets in organization, confidentiality and attention to detail drew me to the position. I really knew next to nothing about the merchandise world (other than my Jack Sikma growth chart when I was 6). I supported several VPs, including marketing, NBD and retail. After three years engaged with the retail world, a program manager position opened. I was very interested and spent the next five years working on the Bank of America account and FedEx. A position as director of client services was offered to me, and here I am.
What do you enjoy about your current position?
Two of my strengths are managing people and client relationships. This role enables me to do both, while being an advocate for my team. Every day is different, which makes my job even more enjoyable. My team is fantastic and full of energy, which gets me jazzed.
How do you keep your team motivated?
Always being available to them—any day, any time—and supporting not only their business, but personal growth. It's important to me that I always recognize my team members and make it a point to do so throughout the year.
What's the best client feedback you've received lately?
Following a presentation a client said to us, "Very, very impressive. I've been looking for this for the last two years. You thought of everything." It was a great feeling to nail it and a ton of work went into the presentation and creating the samples so it was even more rewarding.
They say during a business dinner you should avoid certain dishes to reduce your risk of spills, stains, and awkward eating situations. Do you play it safe when you're out with clients?
I look for the best-tasting item on the menu and go for it. My mother gave me "Tiffany's Table Manners for Teenagers" when I was younger and this has helped me to eat anything on the menu with grace and elegance.
What's your proudest moment at BDA?
The trust Jay and Eric have in me to continue and offer me growth opportunities at BDA.
How about an embarrassing moment?
Jay took liberties with me while I was stuck in a wheelchair after breaking my leg. He wheeled me all across the stage at our national sales meeting and I could do nothing about it! I was a true victim. The next evening I stuck to crutches.
What's it like working alongside your siblings? Should we assume you're planning to take over the company?
Do you mean should the company be called TD&A? Hmm.... I absolutely love working with my sister and brother. It helps that we have an awesome relationship and they actually like me too. They are hard workers and while we don't have much time to catch up at the office, just seeing them in the halls brings a smile. I can't imagine not working with them.
How do you stay busy outside of work?
I love to sing—karaoke, in the shower, with a band—anything. And I'm a huge sports fan. I love to be on the field playing flag football or softball, but the broken leg followed by being pregnant means I've been stuck on the couch watching my favorite team, the Denver Broncos.
